Angelic Protection for Travelers

I love working with angels and crystals. There are many angels that travelers can call upon for a safe journey. Some specific crystals are beneficial for travelers to keep with them to enhance the protective energy of the angels. Another benefit to calling upon these angels is it extends protection to anyone in your vicinity who is open to their assistance. In this article, I will discuss three archangels travelers can invoke for protection while commuting - Archangels Michael, Raphael, and Uriel.

Crystals are excellent for those who like to have something more tangible to help ground themselves and focus their awareness on the outcome they desire. There are certain crystals travelers can carry with them for extra protection for themselves and those journeying with them or even near them. Archangels Michael, Raphael, and Uriel are well-equipped to handle any security or guidance needed during our travels without needing to carry angel crystals; however, the vibrational properties of some specific stones are valuable in allowing the angels to help us.

Aquamarine stones can provide that additional protection when traveling on or over water. Aquamarine means "Water of the Sea." It is a beautiful, translucent stone that comes in pale blue to bluish-green shades. It is also a fragile and porous stone. Ancient seamen were known to carry this stone for protection while at sea. Aquamarine has calming properties that can ward off anxiety, sea, and motion sickness. Archangel Michael is always standing by, ready to shield us and keep us out of harm's way. He is the archangel of rescue workers, and while he protects them, he will also bring them to us should we need rescuing.

Archangel Raphael is the great healer, as his name reflects. Raphael means "God heals." So when we call upon him, we invoke God's healing energy. Archangel Raphael is well known as the archangel of travelers, and he wants to accompany us whenever we want or need him.

Turquoise is a lovely, opaque stone that comes in many shades, but the most common are colors of a vibrant sky-blue or blue-green with veins of brownish-gold. This stone's blue-green colors and vibrations naturally complement the healing energy of Archangel Raphael. The Apache believed that the blue-green hues of turquoise indicated that it contained the powers of the spirits of the sky and sea. Turquoise is known as the "Traveler's Stone," valued by the early Native-American Indians whose nomadic lifestyle required a great deal of travel protection. They also revered this stone for its properties of heightening spiritual awareness and protecting the body and soul.

There is much history and mystical lore about turquoise, and I've been drawn to this stone since I was a child. Aquamarine happens to be my birthstone and is another favorite of mine. Although not as fragile as aquamarine, turquoise must still be handled with care when used as a healing or protection stone. Never leave turquoise or aquamarine in the sun for prolonged periods because it can fade the color. The safest way to cleanse and recharge these stones is to sit them on top of a slab of selenite crystal for a few days.

Archangel Uriel is there to guide us. He is also known as the "Light of God," so call upon him if you have to travel during hours of darkness. Intellectually, he can help us understand maps to find the best route to and from our destination. Archangel Uriel also brings assistance in dealing with inclement weather conditions.

Black onyx is a handsome, opaque stone, usually jet-black or sometimes black with veins of white. It is lustrous and shiny when tumbled and polished. This stone is practical when working with Archangel Uriel. Black onyx is known for its healing properties of warding off negative energy or psychic attack. This stone is beneficial and protective for night travelers and an excellent crystal for the safety of sleepwalkers.
